Okay, the aim of M&Ms is to tell you what happens when the fashion industry pairs with the four-wheeled universe, but we’re not so rigid. From four to two wheels the equation is still valid: this is the case of the collaboration between a young designer from Los Angeles and the brand symbol of style on two wheels.

The partnership between Sean Wotherspoon and Vespa is the first in a series of projects with which the Italian brand aim to get closer and closer to the young public, winking at the world of fashion, design and overseas trends.

And the move is a good one, because Sean is one of the pioneers of streetwear in the US as well as a great fan of vintage. The co-founder of Round Two, a famous store with three locations (Los Angeles, New York and Richmond) specializing in secondhand and modern garments. He loves constantly experimenting, mixing different worlds in search of the perfect combination. That’s what he does with colours, playing with innovative materials and fabrics to create interesting games between different colours and textures.

The perfect example is the hybrid shoe design that won the “Vote Forward” in 2017, the contest held by Nike on Air Max Day among artists from all over the world invited to work with Nike Design Team to create their own interpretation of the sneaker. The Wotherspoon concept fused two iconic Air Max models, the 1 and the ’97, mixing the midsole of the first with the upper of the second, creating a winning colour pattern with several layers of corduroy.

From the unity of purpose between Sean Wotherspoon and Vespa comes a true work of art inspired by the nuances of the 80s and 90s such as yellow, red, dark green and aqua green.

A unique model with its mix of bold materials and colours: metal, plastic, rubber and velvet that alternate in shapes and colours, creating a contrast that highlights every curve of the Vespa Primavera 125. The saddle is upholstered in light brown corduroy with a white finish, underlining the endless love of wotherspoon for corduroy. Chrome-plated trim, white front tie and steel shell do the rest. And then the signature: a tag with which the artist’s name merges with the historic Vespa logo.

The collaboration is also enriched by a helmet and two T-shirts.

The Primavera Sean Wotherspoon, anticipated last November at EICMA, is now available at the price of 4,990 Euro. Cop or drop?

ABOUT
